Smp for menSMP is suitable for all types of male pattern baldness, from early thinning to complete baldness. Hair lines are created to suit your desired style and look, but also your age. This is important to keep in mind when designing a hair line for it is inadvisable to have a full hair line for a man over 50 for example. Often clients have tried to lotions and potions, vitamins and minerals to little or no affect. Others do not want invasive transplant surgery which does not guarantee a desired look. Some don’t like to use hair systems and the upkeep that goes with that solution. SMP is often the only available option. Nevertheless, many clients often opt for SMP to supplement Hair Transplants or Hair Systems. At the Essex SMP Clinic we have over 20 years of experience in the field of hair loss. We are well placed to offer you pertinent, accurate and honest advice to which option would be most appropriate and practical for you. Indeed, if we find that SMP is not for you, we can offer you experiential advise on other solutions like hair systems for example, or as indicated earlier, a combination of different solutions is best. We can guide you on your path to not only regaining your look but also your emotional well-being. The process is not just about improving your appearance, but also about boosting your self-worth and self-confidence, and if anything more so, and this part is often priceless and hugely rewarding. Style Options A popular option is to go with the very short buzz cut with a natural hairline that aligns with your requirements, whether it be a modern sharp edge look or a scattered hair line or one with a recession that befits your age. For those who do not feel at ease with the shaven look, and would prefer to use SMP to attain a thicker hair appearance to their existing hair, then this can be achieved by embedding pigments under the current hair to create the fuller look. And you don’t need to shave your head for this. Though there are some stipulations in order for the technique to be realized effectively. A client should have a relatively good front hair line, is comfortable with keeping their hair line at its current position and has a minimum of 50% coverage in the crown area. Crown area For men with thinning crowns, as long as he has reasonable coverage, SMP can be used to lessen the contrast between the thicker hair and the scalp, creating the appearance of the hair being fuller. Touch Ups and Moderate Adjustments It is true that whatever appearance we prefer now, may not be what we prefer in the future. It is possible you may now wish to change your SMP appearance to fit your current circumstances. So, if you wish to adjust your current hair line or add density, then it is worth having a quick chat with us, whether you had your initial treatment with us or elsewhere. SMP is permanent solution though periodic touch ups may well be necessary every 3 – 6 years. Some may not need anything more done. Some may have some very slight fading that may require a touch up. It varies from person to person, but if in doubt, just give us a quick call.

Smp for womenSMP is becoming increasingly more popular method to combat female hair loss. SMP enables a client to create a look of thicker hair by depositing the colour pigments underneath your existing growing hair. This reduces the contrast between the hair and scalp and achieves a fuller natural look which disguises the thinning element of your hair. It’s important to note that Ladies suffer hair loss in a different way to men and this has to be taken into consideration when planning SMP. Ladies thinning tends to be more diffuse and general, and any natural parting areas widen over time to reveal more scalp. For men, the aim is to create the illusion of hair follicles. For women, the aim is to conceal the look of thinning hair by shading in the area which is becoming thin, thus giving the distinct appearance of thicker hair. The process of applying the pigmentation to the scalp is accomplished by working through the hair section by section, distributing the pigment proportionally. This provides an underlying shade, masking the thinning areas by imitating your own growing shorter hairs. SMP is not actual hair, but an extremely effective method to camouflage general thinning. SMP is becoming very popular with Ladies and can make massive difference not only aesthetically but in overall well-being. Important to note that a woman’s hair line is different to a man’s and your skilled Technician will take on board your input as well as offer expert advice on creating your look. Also, we wish to make you aware that the process works better on brunettes and redheads, than blonde hair. Overall, SMP is a method that creates the appearance of thicker hair by distributing and placing pigments under your growing hair to achieve the desired fuller look.

Smp for alopeciaAlopecia is considered an autoimmune condition, which may start with small patches of hair loss, usually in one or more coin-sized areas on the scalp and at times across the body including the beard, eyebrows, eyelashes or body hair. The cells from the immune system (T cell called NKG2D+ T cells) gather around the hair follicles. These cells attack the follicle, preventing it from growing hair. It is not totally understood what makes the immune system attack healthy follicles, or even if the cause stems from inside the body (perhaps an infection) or outside the body (environmental) but it could easily be both. Currently, there’s no known cure, however, the good news is the follicles are generally not destroyed, so hair does have a chance to re-grow. Though, it could be patchy regrowth and cannot be guaranteed. Some people do achieve full regrowth though once the condition has developed to Alopecia Totalis or Alopecia Universalis, the chances of full regrowth become less. It is also quite common for people with Alopecia Areata to experience intermittent hair loss throughout their lives. SMP Treatment The first step is a consultation to see how SMP would benefit you. Exact requirements will depend on the individual. Fundamentally, there are two options. To treat the bald patches in order to disguise tehdiferneces between the hair and the bald patches, or to treat the whole scalp. The good news is that most alopecia sufferers can undergo the process and both men and women can achieve good results.
