WHAT IS SMP ?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-invasive, cosmetic solution for any type of hair loss for both men and women. Whether an individual suffers from male pattern baldness, ladies hair loss, alopecia, scarring or requires an supplementary treatment to complement hair transplants or hair pieces/systems then SMP is the practical answer you are searching for. SMP is a modern aesthetic process which creates the illusion of growing hair and/or thicker hair. If client prefers to have a cool buzz-cut look or desires to make their existing hair appear fuller then SMP will achieve the desired effect.
It’s important to point up that SMP is not a process that implants hair or promotes hair growth. SMP does not require any donor hair, drugs, surgery or potions or lotions. It utilises special pigments delivered via high tech, precision micro needles. The technician will embed tiny pigments into the upper dermis of the scalp to replicate hair follicles. The miniscule deposits of pigment match and blend with your own hair resulting in the appearance of fuller, thicker hair or a shaved, groomed cut depending on your preference.
SMP can be likened to a highly advanced and innovative medical hair replication hair tattoo. A method that is both safe and non-invasive that disguises hair loss conclusively. It is a practical solution and its results are clearly visible after just one session.
EQUIPMENT:
Our SMP technicians use state-of-the-art digitally controlled needles coupled with specialized hypo-allergenic pigments that are specifically for the scalp. The pigment is charcoal based and is not prone to colour change like ‘tattoo’ inks or inferior ‘make-up’ colouring which are never used. The pigments are implanted onto the epidermal layer of the scalp to imitate hair follicles.
The technology is significantly different and more sophisticated than that used for tattoos. Needles are single use and about a quarter of the size of those used for a tattoo. The SMP equipment prevents discolouration and undertone discharge that can happen with normal tattoo work. Furthermore, SMP is only applied to the dermal layer of the scalp, whereas regular tattooing enters deeper hence the pain and possible swelling.
SCHEDULE:
The first step is to call for a free consultation with your technician. You can discuss your vision of how you wish to look and your style options. After which, we will create a custom designed plan that is specific to your needs. You can ask questions at this stage to alleviate any doubts and thus enabling you to make an informed decision.
Treatments will be undertaken at our Southend Clinic. SMP is often completed in 3 stages. Each session lasts about 3 hours and is spread over 3 weeks. A week or so passes between appointments in order for the scalp to rest and to allow the treatment to settle in. It is a relatively pain free process with at worst mild discomfort. After the sessions, your scalp may have some redness which will clear up naturally in days.
>First Appointment:
Creation of the hair line and initial fill/density is applied. Duration 3-4 hours.
>Second Appointment:
Focus is on more fill, density and texture. 2 – 4 hours.
>Third Appointment:
Focus is on perfecting the final look.
